Bot Fly Costa Rica

It started as a small red dot similar to that left by a mosquito bite. There was no pain or itch for the first few weeks but the red dot got bigger and underneath the skin a hard lump grew larger. Intense itching started and blood and puss would seep from the wound which would remain closed to my old eyes for the most part. At one point I squeezed a massive amount of puss from the wound and figured I had killed the damn thing and was resigned to let my body absorb and delete the remains of the worm which is still growing inside my flesh.

This morning I was woken at 1am by the most excruciating pain and my sheets where bloodied from the wound. I finally got around to reading about these bot flies, known also as torsalos here in Costa Rica. What I wanted to know more then anything was how long these damn parasites needed to live inside my body before they hatched into the fly that starts the cycle. 8 weeks. Fuck. It has already been about 6 weeks and if the pain last night was any indication of the next two weeks I am going to need a lot of opium to keep my sane.

Perhaps I will try one of the many removal tricks I read about. Lay a piece of meat over the breathing hole and when the breathing tube enters the meat grab it with tweezers and pull real hard because the body is much wider then the narrow tube. Be sure not to rip the tube off the body or you will have problems with infections, they all say. Of course you can just let the worm complete its cycle and pop out on its own and the only risk is terrible pain.

Sex

Sex sells or so the adage goes. Sex also is the number one driving force behind all madness on planet earth. Sex is what allows a species to continue living on generation after generation. Sex is the greatest pleasure known to man and his greatest torment. Sex is why men fight and die and why gorgeous women marry hideous men. Sex is why prostitutes have an endless supply of customers. Sex is the best exercise.

The best sex occurs when a man and a woman copulate to make an offspring.

Sexual energy flow is reduced when reproductive forces are blocked by artificial birth control systems, the worst being a plastic bag over the cock known as a condom. However pills are poison and IUD’s are foreign objects inserted into private space.

The best thing about a pregnant girl friend is that no birth control method is required to avoid pregnancy. Sexual pleasure can reach their highest peaks with zero fear.

Sex was designed for reproduction. Period. The fact that sex feels so damn good was necessary so that people would actually have sex. Otherwise, since men and women fight so much, why would they ever have sex unless it felt good?

Normal healthy social groups raise all children as one. Modern societies destroy the tribal family unit forcing us into two parent households raising kids on our own and hating each other for the misery of this broken tribe. If only we could regain our tribal roots, we would be ever so much happier. But meanwhile we still have extra marital sexual affairs to keep us occupied.

In the tribal families all members have value. The oldest are the teachers and look after the youngest. The strongest hunt. Everyone else gardens and cleans. When a man tires of his woman, he throws her out and looks for a replacement. When a woman tires of her man, she puts on war paint and seduces a new one. But the children are still loved and cared for equally.

Marriage is a man made institution that attempts to legalize an un-natural relationship. Marriage becomes prison, with each spouse acting as the other’s jailer. Divorce is often more painful then death. Perfect system of social control.

Fear of no sex is what drives many humans into the unhappiness of marriage. Lack of family and tribal connections allow’s misery to be the dominant emotion in modern society. Pharmo-psychodelics allow miserable people to pretend happiness and get on with their work as slaves to the machine.

Sex is the driving force behind all madness. It is good to be free of desire for now I am truly at peace.

Costa Rica Women

The women of Costa Rica are stunning, known the world over for their beauty and affection. Most men who come here fall in love, but many are married to life partners and must struggle with the desire to make love to a beautiful costa rican girl or continue on the comfortable well worn path of a life time commitment sealed with a marriage contract.

I was lucky. Upon visiting Costa Rica for the first time I was freshly divorced and hungry for love which I was able to feed freely frolicking with fresh fortunate women of San Jose, Costa Rica. My nights were filled with passion and my days studying Spanish. Soon I was renewed and ready for anything. I must have fallen in-love at least 5 times a day but soon was captured by Xenia a most extraordinary creature, who introduced me to a wondrous world of sensuality and madness.

If you are looking for your soul mate, your life partner, the lover you never had but always dreamed of, then look no farther then Costa Rica where women and girls will be found to fulfill your dreams.

More Gringos in Arenal

Everyday I go to town I see many new faces. Mostly expats and old farts come to retire and live out their final years in the cool mountain air of the Lake Arenal, Costa Rica area. While the rest of the world is experiencing economic hardships here in Arenal builders and property developers appear to be successful. All these new people in town have to sleep some where so it must be that more homes are being built and land sold to accommodate these folks.

Now I think its great that Nuevo Arenal has new found friends and neighbors and hope only that the quality of our lives improves as more folks decide to live here. You know we used to measure our town by the number of bars and super markets but perhaps we need to measure it by some new metric, perhaps the arrival of some fast food chain type store or a movie theater.

Sure we have yoga and pilates classes but hell we have five different churches too. And since these are all nothing but social events anyway, we need some other way to measure the success of our community. We can’t just go around and ask people if they are happy, because the unwritten rule here is to always answer, “Estoy mui bien, gracias” to any question of our health and mental happiness. That is, that even when we feel miserable and perhaps hateful of the world around us we lie and say, “life is perfect.”

Sunset Bar and Grill

There’s a new bar in town called Sunset Bar. It is the old Lava Java coffee house and internet cafe. Patrick has nearly gutted the old Lava Java, installing a huge bar that bursts through a wall onto the view patio. The back yard now has a covered roof with pool table and seating for meals and drinks. I stopped in thursday night for a beer and enjoyed the nightly special of 1 kilo of chicken wings for $4. In fact just about everybody in the packed place was drinking heartily and eating chicken wings. Its good to see happy people in a crowded bar in Arenal. Patrick tells me he is seeing most nights busy now and he seems quite pleased with himself. Way to go Patrick.

What will become of the other bars in town? Rumors is rumored to be up for sale. Bar Bambu will remain the oldest bar for expats in town as Randall owns the building and bar and has no employees so even though business is slow Bambu will survive. The bars at the other end of town Capis, Tipico and Chafis – its any bodies guess what will become of these. Chafis is still quite popular on friday and saturday nights with the young and restless but the noise level is so high that after 5 minutes inside even before disco starts I have to leave due to the pain in my head.

Heading north we have Maverick’s restaurant and bar where you can get a great steak or seafood meal for around $20. Good place to sit and drink also. And the waitresses are the prettiest I have seen anywhere.

And towards la Fortuna you can stop in and have an exotic meal served up with attitude at the Gingerbread Restaurant and Hotel. This is where you’ll find the well to do in town.

My vote for the best meal for your money is Moya’s Restaurant across from the gas station in Nuevo Arenal. The food is always healthy and good. My only complaint is that it takes at least 30 minutes for them to prepare and deliver your food. This might be because they are out in the gardens harvesting the greens. None the less, if you don’t mind the wait, the food is the best around town for my money.

Beautiful Weather Lake Arenal

The weather has returned to absolutely gorgeousness. I admit i was getting tired of the rain, though well used to the rain having lived some years in the Pacific Northwest of the USA and many years here on Lake Arenal in northwest Costa Rica, land of forests, beaches and laid back lifestyles. But thank the cosmos for bringing sun and warmth and light and joy back to our part of the world so that I can get off this computer and start walking in the jungles again. When it is sunny here on Arenal Lake, there is no other place on planet earth that I think of being, of traveling to, of living at.

I think that since its such a nice day that I am going to get on my motor cycle and take a long ride around the lake to visit old friends and make new ones. I will stop in Tilaran for lunch and then head over to Hotel Tilawa for home brewed beer or two. I could spend three or four days touring the lake communities but I must check my email and Facebook and twitter every now and then so I can stay up with my friends!

Cacao Nicaragua Beverage Delight

On a recent trip to Nicaragua I discovered a tasty healthy beverage: cacao. My first taste of this delightful filling drink was in the central park of Granada, where for about $1 the Kiosk kitchen served a tall ice filled glass of milk mixed with cacao powder and sugar. Every day I would rush to the park and order a Cacao to enjoy. In San Juan del Sur I searched for Cacao and finally found a small restaurant on the north side of the beach that serves excellent Nicaraguan food for a fair price and served an even tastier version of this National Favorite drink.

I have bought the Cacao powder and brought it back to my home on Lake Arenal in Costa Rica only to be disappointed that the flavor is nothing like I expected. Now I am on the search for the perfect cacao recipe. Do you know how it is made?

As best I can gather, one acquires raw cacao seeds, which are the source for chocolate. Also one would gather fresh vanilla and cinnamon and some say also chile and maybe even corn meal. Grind the cacao seeds to powder and roast in an oven (with or without the vanilla and cinnamon ?) then put in a blender with fresh raw cows milk and sugar to taste. Serve with ice as only when it’s ice cold does it taste right.

I can tell you that this drink is healthy and invigorating, aside from the added sugar. I feel stronger and more energetic and my bedroom activities are seeing a bright side too !

My new drink – Nicaraguan Cacao.

Managua Nicaragua Adventures

I have often fallen in love with the beautiful women of Nicaragua. I met most of my Nicaraguan friends here in Costa Rica, where they have chosen to live and work. I find the Nicaraguan people to be extremely friendly, smart and very sensual.

Recently I was invited to be a guest at the home of a middle class Nicaraguan family who live in the mountains above Managua, Nicaragua. My earlier visits to Managua have been in the pit of the city, in the heart, the pulse the working districts where heat and filth were the norm.

Farm Fresh Chicken

One of my favorite meals is farm fresh chicken roasted over an open fire or baked in my gas oven. There are four different ladies who live down the road who raise these animals on their patios. They are loved and well fed and not injected with any chemicals. I can’t call these chickens organic as the feed does have some vitamins and other chemicals added. But the quality of this meat is superior to anything you can buy in the supermarket.

Today I have started the fire and will be barbecuing an 8 pound bird for dinner. Along with some rice and corn on the cob we will feast. Come on over and join me – just be sure and bring along the beer !

Psychopaths in Costa Rica

It will come as no surprise to any world traveler that we have our share of psychopaths here in Costa Rica just as any great nation of planet earth does. A psychopath is a person who has no emotional attachment to their own actions. That is, they care not how their actions hurt others. They may, in fact, gain great pleasure from watching the misery they inflict with their lies, schemes, thefts and con games.
